Balancing personal and professional life is a bit stressful in today’s highly competitive world. There is so much stress and pressure that one can’t seem to decide whether to focus on your work, your family, or your friend circle. Between all this hustle, finding some time for self-improvement or relaxation is a feat in itself. Are you too facing a similar dilemma? If you too are looking for some way to be able to manage your time well, and consecutively improve your soft skills, try playing the online rummy game. Not only will it help you boost your cognitive skills, but also help you relax amidst the stress and chaos of daily life.
The 13-card online rummy game has three common variants, i.e., Deals Rummy, Pool Rummy and Points Rummy. If you can’t find much time in your busy schedule, you can play the quickest rummy variant – Points Rummy. A 2-player game usually lasts for 2-3 minutes but is as effective in enhancing skills as well as reducing anxiety as any of the other variants.
New to the online rummy experience? We’ll get you acquainted with the basics of Points Rummy so that you can start practising and playing instantly.
How to Play
2-6 players can enjoy the game on a single table. However, a 2-player game is the quickest and can be completed in under 5 minutes. Each player is dealt 13 cards, and they must make valid melds (sets/sequences) while aiming to reduce their points. The first player to declare his/her game after making proper melds and ensuring a score of zero points is the winner.
All cards need to be arranged into valid sets/sequences by picking cards from the open or closed deck and discarding unwanted cards to the discards pile. While you make your melds, make sure that you have atleast one pure sequence, formed without using a Joker Card. Once you have made all the valid melds, discard the last card into the finish slot to declare your game. Don’t forget to rearrange your cards into proper sets/runs before hitting the declare button.
Score Calculation
Each player has a pre-decided rupee value, that is already mentioned before you begin playing. Your score depends on the total value of unmelded cards in your hand. The winner is the one who has already completed all his/her melds before everyone else. The total of his score is zero points since he has no extra cards in his hand. For example, you are playing a two-player game and were able to make a successful declare before your opponent, your score would be zero. Now, if your opponent has cards worth 20 points that are not part of any set/sequence in his hand, he will lose the game by 20 points.
The score also depends upon exercising the drop option. If you opt for an initial drop, you’ll lose 20 points. A middle drop will cost you 40 points, whereas an invalid declare will cause you the entire 80 points. So, play carefully.
To Sum Up
Points Rummy is a fun and entertaining game, its best advantage isthat you can play the game anytime, anywhere, even when you are short on time.
